# ANATOMALIA: anatomy + anomaly + femalia

Stand Up Dance and Meagan O'Shea present an immersive, healing and joyful performance, ANATOMALIA, at Tromsø Kunstforening.

NB: This performance includes partial nudity. The audience will follow the performers around, and thus involves standing and moving for the entire piece. Fold out chairs can be given to those with extra needs.

Stand Up Dance and Meagan O'Shea present a new iteration of ANATOMALIA at Tromsø Kunstforening, previously performed in Germany, Canada and Finland.

ANATOMALIA is a collective healing of the damage done to femalia (inclusive off all female-ness) and a celebration of queer joy. Through new archetype, ritual, dance, song, installation, procession and sensual, surreal, dark and humourous choreography - ANATOMALIA seeks to change inner landscape and outer world.

A cast of FLINTA dancers move through to overcome and transform states of shame, fear, repulsion and rage to embrace desire, curiosity and trust to (re)claim joy. The cast is supported by local performers from the LGBTQIA+ community as a chorus that traverses the space, orbiting the worlds created within, representing the grandmothers, an alternate and future us.

An immersive experience, the audience follows the chorus who orbit, intersect, change and navigate the space, to discover ensemble choreographies, theatrical installations and secret performances.

There is a community pre-event on 9.05 11:00–14:00 where you can join for a book swap, an informal lunch and make your own merchandise workshop (bring your own items and jazz it up for a small fee).

Meagan O'Shea – choreographer & director Award-winning, queer, contemporary dance+ artist, Meagan O'Shea (she|they) creates "whacky, whimsical, wonderful worlds" (Toronto Star). Examining ideas from unexpected angles, Meagan makes content-driven, interactive, immersive, performance work for real and imagined spaces.

Meagan has created 9 full-length solo shows, animated public space across the land called Canada with her ensemble improv project, "dance like no one is watching", made 6 dancefilms, and many group pieces for stage. The evolution of her popular house concerts is the upcoming Dining Room Tales: Stone Soup, with Nasra Ali Omar and Xan Colman (A is for Atlas). Meagan's largest project to date is ANATOMALIA, which she fundraised for and developed in international residencies for 2 years before it began slow-touring in Germany, Canada and Finland.

"Off the wall, impossible to categorize, fun" Montreal Gazette

Touring her work and teaching improv and DIY Solo Making internationally, Meagan was a nomadic artist for many years. For the last 3 years, Meagan has been calling Tromsø home.

Stand Up Dance . moving . social . imagination .

Working across forms and borders, led by award-winning, queer, contemporary dance+ artist, Meagan O'Shea, who creates "energetic, uplifting and totally unexpected" (Mooney on Theatre) performances, Stand Up Dance seeks to disrupt dominant paradigms, telling stories and sharing experiences, that give voice to alternative and silenced narratives. An international dance collaboratory that activates people individually and collectively through transformative experience, using improvisation and body-based practice to facilitate artistic exchange, we treat studio and creative process as an R&D lab for society.

"Meagan O'Shea breaks down borders, drawing on influences around the world " STIR Vancouver
