We are pleased to welcome Javanese Post Gamelan duo Mo'ong & Bilawa, alongside a sonic happening from Collective Sound-Making Collective. Fri aldersgrense

MO'ONG & BILAWA

Brilliantly described as Post Gamelan Gamelan, Mo'ong & Bilawa are Indonesian musicians Bilawa Ade Respati – a multi-disciplinary artist drawing influences from everything from engineering to the performing arts; from European music tradition to the art of Javanese Karawitan – and Mo’ong Pribadi, best known for his experimental music and instrument building in the bands Raja Kirik and Takkak Takkak. They draw on traditional music from Java, pulling and pushing it into new sonic areas via what they refer to as "playful encounters”. This is one not to be missed!

"This gamelan adjacent album adds a sense of humour, play, negotiation, even conflict, giving the music a personal edge that's almost punk....Mo'ong & Bilawa and their playful encounters move in perpetual motion along horizontal and vertical axes, like duelling sword fighters still locked in combat even as they fall headlong from the top of a tower." - Derek Walmsley for The Wire

COLLECTIVE SOUND-MAKING COLLECTIVE

Collective Sound-Making Collective will be a sonic happening as part of 'Shared Resonance', a collective sonic practice run by Mo'ong & Bilawa using everyday items as sound-objects, unfolding over 3 days in Bergen at Lydgalleriet and Østre. Through the workshop, participants are facilitated to express themselves through a sound-object of their choice, and participate in this collective sound-making experience.
