Can a single dose of a psychedelic change the course of addiction? Early trials with psilocybin for alcohol use disorder have produced real results, and real headlines, but the story underneath is messier and more interesting than "it works" or "it doesn't."
Join us for a talk by Dr Amandine Luquiens, psychiatrist, addiction specialist, and Full Professor at the University of Montpellier, who is running some of the most advanced clinical research on psychedelics and addiction in Europe, including France's first psychedelic trial and the first Phase 3 trial of psilocybin for addiction.
Drawing on her own clinical research, she'll ask a harder question than whether psychedelics work: who do they work for, and why? Trauma, depression, social context, the psychedelic experience itself, and the therapy around it all shape outcomes, and addiction turns out to be one of the clearest windows we have into how psychedelic-assisted therapy actually functions, not as a drug alone, but as part of a psychological and social process.
Expect a talk that's grounded in real clinical data but asks genuinely open questions, relevant whether you're a researcher, clinician, student, or just curious about where this field is actually heading, beyond the hype.
