(Tickets in sale from Wednesday the 3rd)

‘What Connects Us?’ asks for collective self-enquiry and acknowledgement, led by what we share in our introductions as part of a gratefulness practice aligned to the philosophy of ‘Ubuntu’. Through clay we will root us into earth and each other as sources of new connection and expanded community. The workshop will start with a Sound and Breathing moment to settle our energies into the space and end with a short sound and breathing exercise to release our offerings.

The workshop is led by Andile Dyalvane, Nkuthazo Alexis Dyalvane and Sisonke Papu and will be held in English. Andile Dyalvane works at the forefront of contemporary African ceramic art. His sculptural works reflect a deep spiritual connection to heritage, using clay as a vessel for memory, healing and storytelling. Nkuthazo Alexis Dyalvane is a multidisciplinary artist, writer and the life partner of Andile. Sisonke Papu is a long-standing collaborator of the Dyalvanes. He is an internationally recognized South-African multidisciplinary artist and cultural practitioner, traditional healer and breathwork/sound practitioner.

This workshop is organized by ceramic artist Sophie Berenika Broch and supported by The Norwegian Association of Craft Artists (Norske Kunsthåndverkere) and Tromsø Municipality (Tromsø kommune).
